Women
Equine Assisted Learning Sessions available at CoachHorse

CoachHorse provides services to women that are having trouble dealing with daily life, certain situations, or complex emotional difficulties that have kept them from reaching their full potential. Many have experienced trauma or mental health issues but want to possess success and a strategy for their future. Through Cognitive Behavioral and Equine Assisted Therapy, CoachHorse can help women build a sense of self discovery, well-being and healing, and a more effective way to cope. This culminates into a real plan she is ready to embark on.

Through identifying the mental health issue, relational difficulties, or personal concerns the individual and the counselor will develop a treatment plan with measurable goals that specifically address the problem area.  The counselor will also help with identifying her life interests, life passions, personal vision and a strategy for her future.
The counselors at CoachHorse focus on each woman's unique, but often buried, constellation of gifts, talents, and passions. Discovering and trusting their internal resources, each woman can learn the skills they need to lead satisfying and productive lives.

When appropriate Equine Assisted Counseling (EAC) will be incorporated. EAC is an emerging treatment modality that the counselor may use in treating women. Through hands on ground activities (if safe, riding) and forming a bond with a horse, metaphors are generated which is then reflected on how the individual relates to herself and others.  With the support of the counselor, the individual is given the opportunity to address the metaphor and expound on her reactions, perceptions, and feelings gaining insight into her habits, fears, and unconscious ways of coping or relating. This offers an opportunity to work toward the understanding and healing of those issues.

EAC is an effective means for focusing on cooperation, communication, and problem solving. Working with a horse provides a natural setting in which to face fears and self-doubt and increase confidence and self-esteem. Equine-assisted therapy also provides a safe context for exploring, challenging, validating, changing, and learning more ways of relating. Clients find this part of our program highly social, challenging, and fun, yet therapeutically powerful and often life-changing.
